High non-insurance rates, rising health care costs, doctors exiting the state or certain critical specialties because of prohibitive liability insurance costs, nurses and other health care professionals leaving the market because of uncompetitive compensation, and looming financial crises in Medicaid and mental health care — these are just some of the afflictions that plague health care in Maryland.
